Common questions about installing, connecting phones, credits and data security. If your answer isn't here, tell us in the app under Settings → About Lom → Send feedback.

The Mac app won't open after installing?

"Is damaged and can't be opened", "can't verify the developer" and a double-click that does nothing all have the same cause: the installer isn't notarized by Apple yet, so macOS puts a quarantine flag on the downloaded app and blocks the first launch. The fastest fix is one command that removes the flag:

  1. Make sure you've dragged Lom into Applications.
  2. Open Terminal: search for "Terminal" in Launchpad or Spotlight (⌘ + Space).
  3. Paste the line below and press Return. No output means it worked.
    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/麓鸣 Lom.app"
  4. Go back to Applications and double-click Lom. It won't be blocked again.

If you see Permission denied or Operation not permitted, run it again with sudo in front and enter your login password when asked (nothing appears as you type; press Return when done):

sudo xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/麓鸣 Lom.app"

If the app isn't in Applications, type xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine (with a space at the end), drag the Lom icon into the Terminal window to fill in its path, then press Return.

Prefer not to use a command? Double-click the app once and click Done when the warning appears. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the bottom, click Open Anyway and confirm with your password. Open the app again and choose Open.

Windows says "Windows protected your PC"?

The installer doesn't have a commercial code signature yet, so Windows SmartScreen may stop it the first time.

  1. In the warning, click More info.
  2. Check that the file name starts with Lom and ends with windows-x64-setup.exe, then click Run anyway.
  3. Follow the installer. It installs for the current user and needs no admin rights; if WebView2 is missing, it is downloaded and installed automatically.

If there's no Run anyway button, or double-clicking the installer does nothing, unblock the installer first:

  1. Open your Downloads folder, right-click an empty area and choose Open in Terminal (on Windows 10, hold Shift while right-clicking and choose Open PowerShell window here).
  2. Paste this line and press Enter:
    Unblock-File .\Lom-*-windows-x64-setup.exe
  3. Double-click the installer again.

Prefer not to use a command? Right-click the installer → Properties, tick Unblock at the bottom of the General tab, and click OK.

Is there a Windows or Intel Mac version?

The desktop app is available for Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or newer) running macOS 11 or later, and for Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). There is no Intel Mac version yet. The phone app is Android only for now.

How do I update?

Download the latest version from the website. Computer: quit the old version and drag the new Lom into Applications to replace it. Phone: install over the old version and don't uninstall first; pairing and data are kept.

How are credits charged?

  • Built-in models (Lom Pro / Max / Mini) use credits based on usage. When a model that can't read images asks Lom Pro to look at an image, that also uses credits.
  • A paid skill is charged once when you install it; reinstalling is free.
  • Order of use: your plan's daily allowance first, then free credits, then paid credits.
  • Models with your own key and desktop agents such as Codex CLI use no Lom credits; they bill your own accounts.
  • Your current credits are shown at the bottom left; click your avatar → Add credits to enter a redeem code.

How many phones can I connect?

Free plan: 1. Plans: tier 1 connects 2, tier 2 connects 3, tier 3 connects 5, tier 4 connects 10; check Settings → Account → My subscription 我的订阅. At the limit, adding a phone tells you how many your plan allows and no QR code appears. Upgrade your plan, or revoke an old phone under Settings → Permissions & security → Pairing authorizations.

My phone keeps showing offline?

Turn on all three settings in Phone setup · Keep the phone online, and lock Lom Agent in the recent apps screen. The phone goes offline when it loses its network or the system force-stops the app, and reconnects automatically once that's fixed.

Why is it called "Minis" in accessibility settings?

Lom Agent is built on the open-source project OpenMinis, and its accessibility service still uses the original name for now. It is Lom Agent's service. The same goes for Authorize Minis on the Shizuku page.

Is my data safe?

  • Messages between computer and phone are end-to-end encrypted with keys created at pairing; the cloud relay only forwards ciphertext.
  • Your own API keys are encrypted on your computer and never uploaded to Lom's servers; they are encrypted again when synced to a phone.
  • Lom only reads and writes files in the work folder you choose, and you can set permissions to Ask each time or Read-only planning.
  • The operation log stays on your computer and never records command text, file contents or keys.

Which model does Codex CLI use after I switch to it?

The model and sign-in configured in its own CLI. The bottom-right of the input box shows its current model; click to change it. Some CLIs apply the change from the next turn.

How do I update the desktop app?

Starting with 0.1.5, Lom checks for updates automatically. You can also check under Settings → About Lom → Check for updates. Review the release notes, download the update, and choose Install and restart after its signature is verified. Save your edits first; wait for running tasks to finish before installing.
